Interview with Roman De Bastiani

He has been working daily for Brütsch/Rüegger Metals in the Components and Export department for 10 years

Morning grumbler or early riser?
I am an absolute early riser. Open your eyes and the day begins.

What could you not do without in your life?
Clearly my family. I don't like being alone, I always need someone around me. It is a support in difficult times.

What was your dream job as a child?
I always wanted to be a truck driver and drive a really big truck all over the world.

What is the best thing about your profession?
The variety: There are probably not many jobs where you can sell machined drawing parts, organize export shipments, handle stock material sales, create purchase orders and organize pick-ups at the same place. Wouldn't want to swap.

What quality do you particularly appreciate in other people?
Helpfulness! Only together we can reach our goal. Today's time is always fast moving, not everyone can cope with it and is often glad for support.

If you could turn back time, what would you do differently?
Everything in life has its meaning, its purpose. I do not regret anything I have done: I was self-employed and had a mechanical workshop with up to 9 employees, but had to close it down about 10 years ago. A world collapsed ... Today I am employed here at Brütsch/Rüegger and feel very comfortable.

What would you do if you had endless money?
Money alone does not make you happy - but I would certainly afford my family and myself a beautiful property on a Swiss lake. But I would donate a large part of my assets to people in need. And above all - at least that's what I'm saying now - I would stay myself.

Are you sure about this?
