Skiing or carnival? And why?
Both. I love snowy landscapes, mountains and skiing, but I have to admit that I'm a fair-weather skier. I have been an active member of a Guggenmusik for 34 years and still enjoy making music and carnival activities. In recent years, our Guggenmusik has shrunk to a small group and so we are now out and about at the so-called «Beizen-fasnacht».
How did you get into purchasing back then, and what do you particularly like about your work in this area?
After 15 years of family leave, it was important for me to get back into working life. I was looking for part-time work in the local area and came across the advertisement for Brütsch/Rüegger Metals, which appealed to me directly, and that's how I joined the «Purchasing» department. I like working with numbers and I think the occasional use of English is great. Contact with suppliers is usually very friendly and pleasant. I find the different areas I work in varied and there is always something new to learn.
What did you want to be as a child, and how does that differ from your current job?
Being a flight attendant used to be a dream. But I quickly had to bury it because learning foreign languages is not my strong point. I would also have been very interested in goldsmithing, but I couldn't find an apprenticeship. So I started a commercial apprenticeship and have not regretted it to this day; I still really enjoy working in administration.
Is there a particular destination that you have always wanted to visit but haven't yet managed to do so?
Yes, I would love to travel to Canada one day. I would love to experience the untouched wilderness, the lakes, the mountains and, in contrast, the vibrant cities.
What was the last book or movie you enjoyed and why would you recommend it?
I saw the movie «Alles steht Kopf 2» with my daughter in the cinema. The portrayal of the emotions and the chaos you feel when you grow up was so relatable. A movie for young and old alike.
What do you value most about your team and your work here at the company?
The tone is always friendly and respectful. There is almost never a bad mood and that makes working here very pleasant. I find the mix of different characters harmonious. You always get support when you need it, and I think that's great.
Is there a life motto or piece of advice that has been particularly helpful to you over the years?
«Honesty is the longest lasting» - I've always done well with that and have always tried to stay true to it.
What little joy in everyday life always brings a smile to your face?
The evening dinner table conversations with my children. How they grow up and all the things they experience - there are so many «Déjà-vus» that often bring a smile to your face
